Kuchiyose no jutsu.

Kakashi slaps his palm to the ground, a shinobi seal draws itself onto the floor, and in a plume of white smoke, a squad of talking ninja dogs appears, ready for battle.

We thought that shit was dope!

That scene served as the inspiration for what would become Beast Callers, the first Essence Form designed. (Sort of like our own… Ryhorn… nice.) In simplest terms, “Beasters make animals appear.” More specifically, when a Beaster summons, their Essence pours out of them and forms into a sort of hollow replica of an animal, known as a construct. The primary class of animal they summon is hereditary, while the species can depend on several factors, but is usually consistent with family. A fatal blow or severe injury will cause the constuct to dispel, reverting to pure Essence and eventually returning to its owner. However, good luck slaying one. On Eodiena, the summoners can be as mighty – and as savage – as the beasts they call. Literally.

While able to diversify through transference, the Essence within Beasters is intimately bound to their natural summoning species, manifesting in mutations to their anatomy. The stronger and more connected the Beaster to their native species, the more they take on the unique beastial features of that species (like Nasha's cat claws, or Vena’s snake eyes). This passive makes elite Dikarans unmatched in physical prowess and might.

We've developed a sprawling, vivid, intricate, and cultured world. We've build a magic system that we think provides wonder and fun action, while still being consistent and believable, within the laws of our world. We've created a diverse cast of characters who each have their own motivations, their own identities and their own place in and around the life of the Star Caller. We've tried to pay homage to several of the comics and films and games that inspired us. I think we've written a dope story.

And, it all started with with a fun little idea, inspired by Hatake, Kakashi performing the Kuchiyose no jutsu.
